A message from the principal...
Huggins Community,
We had another fantastic week of learning and community engagement! The highlights of our week included a very successful Book Fair, our Second Annual Multicultural Festival, and our October House Pep Rally. Thank you to our volunteers that helped Ms. Campbell with the Book Fair...our hounds love the opportunity to shop for books! I also want to send a special thank you to our families that created a booth for our multicultural festival. It was a joy to watch our school come together and learn from each other. From traditional foods to music, dances, and cultural displays, it was a beautiful showcase of the many cultures that represent our school. Our House Pep Rally brought everyone together today. It is always fun to see our students cheering each other on and celebrating GOOD CHARACTER. Congratulations to our Golden Paw recipients!
As we head into next week, please be sure to check out the Hound Hustle Spirit Week schedule. We are SO EXCITED for our Hound Hustle on Friday! The grade level schedule is listed below. Parents, if you will be attending, please be sure to RSVP. As a reminder, no school-aged siblings will be permitted to attend.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham

Hound Hustle 2024
Your Friends of Huggins parent organization is gearing up for their fall fundraiser and are thrilled to announce this year's Hound Hustle: Olympic Games. FOH would love to raise enough funds this year to have a large shade structure built for use during PE and recess times, provide outdoor playground equipment, and facilitate other outdoor area improvements where our children play and learn!
Hound Hustle is set to kick off on October 21st and will conclude on November 1st, when we will say "THANK YOU" for all of your support in our fundraising efforts by hosting this year's Hound Hustle: Olympic Games for the students to celebrate! We will have traditional relay games, inflatables, treats and more! Parents are invited to attend during their child's scheduled time. Please RSVP below and remember that like all school-day events at Huggins, school-aged children are not permitted to attend. Follow Friends of Huggins on their Instagram and Facebook pages to stay up to date with all of the Huggins happenings and stay tuned for more Hound Hustle details and ways you can support!

Rezoning
The Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved new secondary campus zones for the 2025-2026 school year, and I am writing to inform you of some important changes that may affect your child’s campus assignment starting in the 2025-2026 academic year if they are currently in grades 5 - 11.
To determine if you and your family will be impacted by the rezoning, please follow the steps below.
· Go to the Lamar CISD website – www.lcisd.org
· At the top of the page, click on “Find My School”
· Using the dropdown arrow next to “School Year 2024-25”, select “School Year 2025-26”
· Begin entering your home address in the search bar
Once you see your address, click on that address
· On the left-hand side of the site, you will see the elementary, middle school, junior high school, and high school that your home is zoned for in Lamar CISD
For further information, please see the attached FAQ document that provides more specific information about the updated school zones for 2025-2026.
Should you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Department of Enrollment Management directly at 832-223-0424. You can also reach out to me if you have any questions as well. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

🚗 Huggins Elementary Car Rider Procedures 🚗
The safety of your children is our top priority, and adhering to our established car rider procedures helps us maintain a smooth and organized process during drop-off and pick-up times. Here are a few key points to remember:
- Turn Right into the Huggins Car Rider Driveway: The entrance to our car rider line is off of Katy-Fulshear Road. To get in line, you must be heading south on Katy-Fulshear. Cars are not permitted to make a left-hand turn into the driveway.
- Stay in Line: When entering the Huggins driveway for drop-off or pick-up, please stay in a single file line. This helps avoid any congestion and ensures a steady flow of traffic. Do not pull off and attempt to pass cars in line, as this creates a safety hazard.
- Follow Staff Instructions: Our staff members are trained to guide and assist during drop-off and pick-up times. Please follow their instructions promptly and patiently. Their guidance is aimed in creating a safe environment for everyone.
- No Cell Phones: While in the car rider line, please refrain from using your cell phone. This allows you to remain focused on the line and surrounding area, helping to ensure a safe environment for our students and staff.
- Arrival and Dismissal Times: It's important to arrive at the designated times for drop-off and pick-up. Remember, our doors open at 7:15am. Staff will begin opening doors at that time. Please do not drop off your student before 7:15am. Students that arrive after 7:45 will be counted tardy. If you arrive to school after the start time and there is no longer line or staff outside, you will need to park and walk your child into the building to check-in and receive a tardy slip. Please note that all change of transportation changes must be made before 2:00pm. In the event you need to pick up your child early, please do so by 2:30pm.
- Car Rider Tags: You must have a 24-25 car rider tag hanging from your rearview mirror to pick up your student in the car rider line. In the event that you do not have your tag, you will need to park in the lot and go to the office. Your child will be released to you with proper ID and after the car rider line is cleared.
By adhering to these procedures, we can collectively create a safe and efficient car rider process. We greatly appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and patience...especially the first few weeks of school!
